My Life Partner What can I say that can describe my thoughts and feelings about my friend of almost 50 years and husband of 45years? To say you were the most caring, loving, greatest husband that ever lived is an understatement. You were my brother, companion, lover, closest friend that encouraged me daily. We relocated to Ibadan after our marriage and things were tough as you were an orphan and being the eldest, you were the only parent to your siblings so your siblings came to live with us. We were seven sharing one room. Whenever I felt low or sad, you always had a word of comfort and encouragement. Your words still ring in my ears today “Don’t worry darling, the future will be bright”. You worked hard to make that statement a reality. I can say with confidence, you made the future bright, in the little things you do, being the provider and protector for the family. You raised up so many people, our home was always open to relatives, kinsmen and everyone who had a vision of moving up but needed a mentor to show the way. You touched many lives. How can I forget your concern to get everybody educated? You spent all you had to send our children and relatives to good schools and followed up their progress. The educational foundation you set up in Idanre has sponsored and assisted hundreds of people through school. You were always concerned for us and shielded us from anything that could cause us pain. Even when you were in pains, you tried to conceal it from us or made it appear light. Your favorite song was “ Praising the Lord always, My God is good to me” and God has been really good to us. You told us specifically not to mourn but to rejoice always because God is good. I look around now and Tobi is gone. My Life Partner, we did everything together and went everywhere together in Nigeria and abroad. How do I continue the journey alone? I can only comfort myself with God’s word and songs of praise. “Because he lives, I can face tomorrow. I have the Blessed Assurance that Jesus is mine. Rest in the bosom of the Lord. You finished well and I will always love you. Till we meet at the feet of Jesus. Felicia Adeniyi (Mrs)
