Dad,
Today is your birthday 8th of March, you would have been 71years today
I remember your 70th birthday last year, we were all there to celebrate with you
Every year (with the exception of 2009) I'd always travel down wherever I was to be with you on the 8th of march
However this year 2011 things are different, Its the first year you wont be with us at home to celebrate your birthday
Its almost six months now that you went home to be with the Lord, and it has not been easy. many times I feel like picking up the phone just to hear your voice or to tell you about the latest news and the reality would hit me that l cant talk to you anymore or ask for your opinion or advise
Should I continue to shed tears that you have gone or do I smile that you lived and was a special and good father
Do I close my eyes and pray for you to still be around or do I open my eyes to see the love you shared lifting my hands in thanksgiving for your life and the blessing you were to many
Many times when the "whys" and the "what ifs" come up especially when faced with the challenges of coordinating the legacy you left behind, I ask myself what would you have done if you were around. This has guided my decisions and actions but I wish you were around for me to ask you for answers and advise.
I can assure you, we are trying to keep the " egg yoke and white" together because i believe that is what you'll want us to do.
Your caution about "the white shoes" guides my decision making especially on ADABOL and family issues
Today i asked God to just send me a word of comfort and i came across a song that I have uploaded to my phone as my new ringtone
The song says "I am with you" The lyrics of the songs are below it was if you were comforting me with the song.
"I am with you
Wherever you may go
I'm always with you
You are not alone
D'ont be afraid
Take courage and pray
Cause I am with you"
thank you for being such a loving father. You are always with us in our hearts
Happy birthday Dad
I love and miss you
Olubunmi
